Trail Song Verse 9: Chris

I met Chris and Jenna at the Blue Mountain shelter in Georgia. I was about to set up my tent when I heard a tree branch falling across the trail.

It turned out Chris had spotted an abandoned food bag up in the tree and roped the branch down. It was full of mostly spoiled food, but he got a full fuel canister and a stove out of it. Not bad for a little rope work.

well this here's the story 'bout a hiker named Chris
legs as big as redwoods and a flower in his fist
went down on that holler and what did he see?
just a bag full of goodies from the bear bag berry tree

bear bag berries bear bag berries rope 'em til they fall
good thing that some amateur gave up and left it all
if i should not make it to the summit up in Maine
you will find me with a lasso by the bear bag berry tree
