Trail Song Verse 11: Voodoo Ranger

We came across Voodoo Ranger at the Carter Gap shelter in North Carolina. She had hurt her knee on the trail and limped into the shelter a couple of days prior. She was resting in the shelter until she could hobble down to the road and get into Franklin.

Several hikers had given her food and fuel to persist in the shelter. My contribution was singing this verse for the most determined hiker I had met yet. She said she was craving cherries.

well this here's the story 'bout the Voodoo Ranger
limping 'round at Carter Gap but pain it dod not faze her
hobbled down that holler and what did she see?
just the sweetest red pin cherry from the cherry berry tree

cherry berries cherry berries sweetness from the sky
put 'em on your whipped cream or just bake a cherry pie
if i should not make it to the summit up in Maine
you will find me making sundaes by the cherry berry tree

Voodoo Ranger was later spotted in a hostel in Franklin.
