Getting There 2
Woke up today on the east coast. The first thing I did was eat some very special homemade granola, which presents me with a new crisis: all other granola is now ruined for me.
Got a ride to the airport and said goodbyes, then a train and a shuttle to Amicalola Falls. The shuttle driver was very knowledgeable, good times.
Spending the night in the lodge at the park, then picking up a hangtag in the morning and making the 9 mile walk to Springer Mountain, the official start of the trail.
I've already run into a couple of hikers at the lodge, the rest of the night will be bumping as many fists as I can find. But first a nice ribeye and an Appalachia Mule from the cantina before walking into the woods.
The tally so far:
- 3 cars
- 1 plane
- 1 train
- 5 states
Pretty good for not even setting foot on the trail yet. The car count is likely to keep increasing over the coming months. Fingers crossed for no helicopter rides.
